UFC 256 : Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira

El Cucuy is making his returns in the co-main event for UFC 256! At 26-4, Tony Ferguson is one of my favorite fighters to watch hands down. I raved about his fight with Justin Gaethje earlier this year, because it was just that good! Both fighters never stop coming forward, and Ferguson just has no quit.

Holding the UFC’s record with the most submission victories, Charles Oliveira hopes to continue his seven fight win streak against the Boogeyman, getting him closer to a title shot. 29-8 Oliveira is a true UFC veteran, making UFC 256 his 27th fight in the octagon. During this seven fight win streak, Oliveira has recorded five submissions and two TKO’s. An impressive record.

Ferguson is coming off of a TKO loss to Justin Gaethje in May of this year, a fight that could arguably be named “Fight of the Year”. Let us not forget that Gaethje was a replacement for Khabib Nurmagomedov, after Khabib was ultimately stuck in Russia because of the lockdown. That fight with Khabib was scheduled five separate times, but obviously no one could predict half of the things that went down in 2020. It was thought that Ferguson would be Khabib’s biggest test to date for the title, but with his retirement, we may never see that fight come to fruition. Prior to this loss to Gaethje, Ferguson was riding an impressive 12 fight win streak.

Since the retirement of Khabib Nurmagomedov, names were being thrown into the hat of who everyone believed should be next in line for the title. And honestly I felt like Charles Oliveira was being overlooked! Oliveira has been tried and tested in his extensive UFC career, in a division that is deep with talent. He is coming into this fight on a seven fight win streak, and with Ferguson coming off of a loss, this will be a great bounce back win if he can pull it off. As of today (12/8), I haven’t seen any odds on this fight. But I have in mind who I think will walk away with a W.

Hammer: Charles Oliveira

Nail: Tony Ferguson

Prediction: I predict a third round submission by Oliveira. Which submission? I'm not sure ill be as surprised as everyone else.
